- Project 2010
The "signature" project of the Hawk Children's Fund (HCF) in 2010 will be a $15,000 partnership with the Uganda Community Library Association (UgCLA). This "Rural Solar Demonstration Project" will fund the renovation and solar powering of two small rural libraries in Uganda. The most ambitious phase of this project is to convert an unused brick chicken house in Lokotoro, Uganda into a community library with 100% solar power. All of us on both sides of the Atlantic have come to call this the "Chicken House Library" project. Much less complicated or expensive will be the renovations and solar powering of the existing community library in Mpolyabigere, Uganda. We hope to have both of these projects funded and completed before the end of the summer 2010.
